"Great anxiety is felt in maritime circles in Philadelphia, Pa., as to the safety of the American barque Batavia, Captain Kelley, and the schooner Allie Burnham, both bound to that port from the West Indies with cargoes of sugar and molasses. The former vessel sailed from Havana, Feb.12, since when no tidings have been heard from her. Besides the crew, consisteing of eight men, the captain had his wife and sister-in-law on board. The Burnham sailed from Cardenas, April 22, under the command of Captain George W. Baxter of West Dennis, with a crew of seven men." --Evening Traveler", Barnstable Patriot 25 May 1886
