James L. Sparrow, father of the [Life-saving Service] superintendent, married Sukey Crosby, of Orleans, December 16, 1824. Their four daughters were:Julia M., who died young [?]: Anna E. (Mrs. Freeman H. Snow), Susan M. (Mrs. Joseph K. Mayo) and Sarah E., who died at eighteen. James H., their oldest son, was a well known citizen of Cambridgeport, Mass., until his death there in 1880; William F. enlisted in the civil war and was killed at Goldsboro, N. C., in December, 1862. Benjamin C., the sixth child and youngest son, is the Superintendent Sparrow of this sketch [in Deyo Chapter V].

Ted Crosby
Hyannis- Ted Crosby died peacefully of natural causes at home, on March 22, 2007.
A native Cape Codder, he was born in Hyannis on May 27, 1922, graduated from Barnstable High School in 1940 and attended Bentley business school.
During World War II he served as a pilot and was active in the Air Force Reserves after the war. He continued his love of flying through his longtime membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the local Discover Flying Radio Control Club.
He began his business career in accounting, in partnership with Frank Bearse in Hyannis while starting his family with Norma (Carlander) Crosby. They had three daughters, Laurie, Sandy and Kim.
He continued his career as a banker, working with the Bass River Savings Bank and as an accountant/bookkeeper for several local businesses, including Warren Buick and the Centerville Nursing Home. For many years, he was treasurer of the Hyannis Fire Department.
In 1974, he married Patricia L. Bowmar and became the stepfather of two more daughters, Mary and Cathy.
He was an active member of the Hyannis Yacht Club for many years and served on several committees. He was also a lifelong member of the Federated Church of Hyannis and was at different times was a lay reader and a deacon.
He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia L. (Bowmar) Crosby; his former wife, Norma L. (Carlander) Crosby; his daughter, Kimberlee Crosby; and his brother, Clarence (Tut) Crosby.
He is survived by his two daughters, Laureen M. Crosby and Sandra L. Crosby and her husband, Christopher Hodnik; two stepdaughters, Mary Bowmar Richmond and her husband, John Richmond, and Catherine Bowmar Perry; four grandchildren, Russell Perry, Laura Perry, Susan Fishback and Julie Richmond; and two great-grandchildren, Evan and Liam Fishback.
There will be a memorial service at the Federated Church of Hyannis at a later date.
