From Simeon Perkins Diary:
On August 30, 1774 the schooner Betsey of about 86 tons was purchased in Beverly for about 190 Pounds currency and "appears to be a great penneyworth". She was loaded with lumber and fish for the West Indies. Trade was encouraged by an act, of which news arrived Nov 2 "to lay a duty on molasses and sugar from the Colonies, and to allow West India rum to be imported duty free".
27th Sep. 1775 - Hallet Collins is noted as being 1/4 owner of the sloop Betsey along with William Freeman, Joseph Tinkham and Simeon Perkins which had arrived at Simeon's wharf in Liverpool. The sloop was purchased on Thursday, July 25th, 1775.
Tuesday, March 21st 1780 - Pleasant day. I have my Auction at 10 o'clock. Sold all before noon, the schooner Dolphin sold for 160 Pounds to Mr. Hallet Collins.
18 Oct 1810 - Martha, 2nd wife of Hallett Collins, Esq. died. 9
