Notes
Marriage Notes (John Peirce)
Records of First Church of Pembroke, Plymouth, Mass say that Pembroke was made a Township in the spring of 1712. Heads of household were listed at that time and included Abraham Pearse,
Abraham Pearse, Jr., and John Pearse. Covenants were drawn and signed 22 Oct 1712 and John and Abraham were two of the 13 who signed. The first baptisms performed, 25 Dec 1712, were of Priscilla, Eleonor, Thankful and Mary, daughters of John Pearse. The next were Caleb, Joshua and Nehemiah Pearse, 22 Feb 1713, and Benjamin Pearse, 5 Mar 1713. No parents were given for these four boys. Then on 21 Mar 1714, Mercy, daughter of John Pearse, was baptized.
A 1714 Plymouth Co. deed, Vol. 11 pg 44, shows John selling land in Pembroke which was formerly owned by his father, Abraham, subject to rights of Hannah, wife of Abraham, if she survives him.
In Probate Records of Plymouth Co, Vol 5 pg 90, 165, 12 Oct 1725, Caleb Peirce of Yarmouth, eldest son, was appointed administrator for estate of John Peirce, late of Pembroke. Deeds of Plymouth Co, Mass Vol 11 pg 44, Vol 13 pg 38, Vol 23 pg 185, 186, 187, Vol 26 pg 39, 40, 41, Vol 30 pg 59,
60, 61, Vol 28 pg 123., show sale of 60 acres of land and 1 1/4 acres of cedar swamp, all to Joshua Pearce. The first deed, Caleb Pearce sells his 2/10, double portion as oldest son, to Joshua Pearce and Abraham Pearce, Jr. The 3rd, Abraham, Jr., sells 1/10 to Joshua. This Abraham must be the brother of John. The rest of the deeds are of the other children of John selling 1/10 each to Joshua, all subject to dower of Suzanna, widow of John Pearce.

James became a Merchant Tailor, Freeman by Gigt, of Canterbury, in 1583. He purchased a place in the company of Woolen Drapers and Tailors. He enrolled apprentice Nicholas Rigden on 4 Jun 1583, and Stephen Morris (or Morrys), his brother-in-law, in 1597.
He had numerous encounters with the law in Canterbury, sometimes for brawling. In 1600 he was fined for "victualling" without a license. This is the last known record of him in Canterbury. 22
