DENNIS \emdash Ella Freeman (Cash) Hersey, 92, of Dennis, passed away peacefully at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Brewster on Nov. 17, 2009.
Born in Yarmouth and raised in the town of Dennis, Ella was one of 12 children and is survived by a brother, Lawrence W. Cash of Centerville. She was the wife of the late Raymond Steele Hersey.
She is also survived by a son, Robert S. Hersey and his wife, Maryanne, of South Dennis; and a daughter, Betty Sue Parker of East Dennis, wife of the late Donald W. Parker Sr. Ella was also predeceased by son Raymond E. Hersey, formerly of Springfield, Vt. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ella was the first female deputy sheriff of Barnstable County, appointed in 1970, and also served as a court officer. She was a former special police officer and matron of the Dennis Police Department and also served as a member of the Dennis Rescue Squad. She enjoyed her family, painting, bingo and trips to Foxwoods.
Friends and relatives are invited to a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Ancient Cemetery, Center Street, Yarmouthport.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dennis Rescue Squad, 883 Main St., West Dennis, MA 02670; or to the VNA Hospice & Palliative Care, 434 Route 134, Suite G-1, South Dennis, MA 02660.

Ensign S. ”Buddy” Cash, 70, of Dennisport died unexpectedly Aug. 26 at the Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.
He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Delman) Cash and the former husband of Marjean Williams and the late Judith Ann (Kenney) Cash.
Mr. Cash was born in Yarmouth Port and was a lifelong Cape Cod resident.
He owned and operated Cash’s Trucking Co. for the past 50 years.
An avid traveler, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and boating. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandchildren and his dog.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Timothy Cash of South Dennis, Christopher Cash of Orlando, Fla., Jonathan Cash of Florence, Colo. and Christian Cash of Italy; a daughter, Colleen Garcia of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Wilbur Cash Jr. of Tennessee; a sister, Janice Hutchins of Sandwich; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

BREWSTER \emdash Francis "Butch", "Bubba" Cash passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2010, with his family by his side. A lifelong Brewster resident, Butch worked as a sightseeing pilot in Provincetown before moving on to PBA airlines and finally Continental. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his grandkids. Under duress he cruised extensively with his wife and friends. He loved walking on the beach and enjoyed all that the Cape had to offer with his many friends. He had frequent heated political conversations with his mother-in-law, Laura.
He was the son of Hilda Cash and the late Russell Cash of Brewster. He is survived by his wife, Celeste (Sequeira) Cash; daughter, Danielle (Cash) Savery, her husband Bernie and their four children; Jami, Brennen, Kimberly, and Chloe; his son, Derek Cash-Peterson, his husband, Patrick, and their son Ethan; and his brother Bill Cash.
He will always be remembered for drinking coffee at the Brewster General Store, voting the Republican ticket, and not stopping the car.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Thursday, October 7, from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Friday, October 8, from the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cape Church, Stony Brook Rd., Brewster, MA. Interment will be in Brewster Cemetery, Lower Road, Brewster, MA.
