1850 US census, Wellfleet:
1850: Hannah and Stillman Brown were listed as living in Wellfleet. He was 60 and Hannah was 61. Stillman's occupation was listed as mariner. Living with Stillman and Hannah were: Reuben H. Brown age 20-a mariner, and Charles Brown age 16. Reuben and Charles appear to be Stillman and Hannah's sons. In the same house were also David Childs age 22-a mariner, and Hannah Childs age 21. David and Hannah appear to be Stillman's daughter and son-in-law. Mary Atwood age 32 and a child named Lucinda age 4 are also listed. It appears that Mary and Lucinda were a daughter and grandchild of Stillman and Hannah. Mary Harding age 89 was also listed. Mary and Samuel Harding are listed on Hannah's death records as being her parents; therefore it is probable that this Mary was Hannah's mother. Stillman Jr. age 26-a mariner were listed as living next door with his wife, Ruth P. and daughter, Martha age 3 months.
4. 1860: Stillman and Hannah were still listed as living in Wellfleet. He was age 70 and listed as a farmer. Others in the house were: Mary Atwood age 42, Lucinda Atwood age 15, and Charles H. Brown age 25-a mariner. Stillman's home was valued at $1000.00 and personal wealth at $500.00. Living next door was Reuben H. Brown listed as a mariner and his wife Julia. They had a child named Elisha aged 1 month.
5. 1870: This census lists Hannah and Stillman Brown. His occupation is listed as fish packer and his age was 80. Hannah's age was 76. His estate was valued at $500.00. Others living in the house were: Mary Atwood age 53, occupation tailoress, John Ryder age 26-a seaman, and Lucinda B. Ryder age 25 with no occupation. Lucinda appears to be the former Lucinda Atwood now married to John Ryder. Stillman's land was valued at $500.00 and personal wealth at $500.00. According to maps dated 1870 located at the Wellfleet Historical Society Stillman and Reuben's property were located off of Chequesset Neck Road near the intersection of Holbrook Avenue on what is now Howland Avenue.
6. 1880 census
Stilman Brown, self, 92
Hannah B Brown, wife, 86, house keeper
It should also be noted that Stillman does not appear in any tax records that start in 1822 in Orrington, Maine. This may suggest that he had returned to Wellfleet and was settled there by that time.
