" Eunice is listed in the "1901 Cape Cod Directory" as a "purveyor of dry and fancy goods". ...Records at the Wellfleet Historical Society show Eunice operated a sewing and button shop on Main Street in one of the rooms of what is now [2006] "The Blue Gateway" bed and breakfast. Current owners of the bed and breakfast told [Nancy Tidrick] that when they renovated that room hundreds of pins were found under the floorboards.Medical:
A china replica of a ladies high heeled slipper with a picture of "Uncle Tim's Bridge" on it was found during an archeological dig in Duck Creek. The markings on the slipper say it was made in Germany expressly for Mrs. E. B. Ryder. There are also several other china pieces on exhibit at the Wellfleet Historical Society museum with her logo on the back. Eunice must have also sold these in her shop. In later life Eunice became an invalid, cared for by her mother and then by her brother, Chester." 15
