Marriage Notes (Betty Cook)
"He married probably Betty Cook in Eastham on 13 Oct 1746. There is no direct proof of this however; no other Betty on Cape Cod fits the description. This family moved from Eastham to Marshfield by 1747 and to Scituate after 1755.
"The administration of the estate of Benjamin Brown, late of Scituate, yeoman, was granted on 19 Oct 1773 to Abijah Brown of Scituate, yeoman. The court decided 17 June 1774 that the estate of Benjamin "could not be divided among his children and heirs without great prejudice to despoiling the whole." Children Abijah, Joseph, and Betty requested that the estate be distributed in whole to Abijah, the eldest son, he to settle with Joseph and Betty. On 10 Jun 1774 Betty Brown a minor over 14, daughter of Benjamin chose her mother Betty Brown as guardian." "
