Death: Abt 1775 - Dover, New Hampshire
         Burial:
 Cause of Death:

Parents
         Father: Benjamin Bean (1699-1738)
         Mother: Mehitable Mayo (1705-      )

Notes
General:
"Benjamin's mother was left in rather destitute circumstances when her husband died when Benjamin was but nine years of age. He was bound out to labor. [Another account says that, prior to his enlisting in the French War, he went out to Havannah, and remained there some years. Those who dispute this, say that it was his father who was at Havannah.] At the end of his term, he enlisted to serve in the French War, and went to Dover, NH as his place of rendezvous, where he contracted an acquaintance with Mary Baker. He was present at the capture of Louisburg, and distinguished himself there. After peace was declared, he went into the masting business, upon the Salmon Falls River, in Somersworth, NH and Berwick, Maine; and in passing through Dover, renewed his acquaintance with his future wife. They resided at Epping, NH until about 1771, when they went to Bow, New Hampshire, ( a few miles below Concord on the west bank of the Merrimac River where he was a Selectman in 1775 and was a signer of the famous Test Act of 1776) where they resided at the epoch of the Revolution; and when the pledge was carried around by the selectmen, (as required by the Committee of safety) to see who in Bow were favorable to the Revolution, the fifth volume of the American Archives, shows that he was one of the number. He was a Captain of the Militia and was one of the most active and efficient officers in obtaining recruits and furnishing supplies for the army. He was with Stark at the battle of Bennington, also went with the volunteers to meet Gen. Burgoyne, and was at the capture with his sons, Ebenezer, and Benjamin Bean. The hardships and fatigue of that campaign laid the foundation for a disease of which he died the following summer, aged upwards of 50 years.

In local NH history, "Benjamin was known as Benjamin of Epping." In 1761 he moved his masting business and home to Bow, NH. In 1771, Benjamin bought 2100 acre tracts of land from Francis and Sarah Carr (Roberts?) at Bow, NH (is this is the Sarah Carr who m. second Charles Baker, (4th ggf) and brother of Mary Baker, Benjamin's wife. Except by 1771, Francis had died.. Sarah was already married to Charles Baker by 1771." 3
