"Dr. William Dyer, who when Truro was incorporated on July 16, 1709...was a proprietor. In 1710 he was one of the 20 owners of cattle of a large Danish breed, yellow in color, which were brought over by Francis Small.
William lived at Truro before the original proprietors came, though the births of his children are recorded in Barnstable.
The house built by Doctor Dyer, in Truro, was occupied after his death by his son Ebenezer, who by will dated June 2, 1773, gave to his son, Fulk Dyer, "my Dwelling house wherein I now live and the lands adjoining thereto formerly called Doct. Dyers homestead." Fulk Dyer lived there until his death, in 1814, in his eighty second year. The inventory of his estate includes the "land called the homestead whereon the house and other buildings standeth.... $150.00, One Dwelling House..... $250.00." The old house, last occupied by Captain Ebenezer Atkins, was taken down since 1865. [Small Genealogy]"
