Horatio Smith and Eliza lived at Richmond Corner, on the farm given to her by her father. The farm comprised 1,000 acres, and was situated between the present County Road running from Richmond Village to Litchfield, and the Bowdoinham line, and extended, approximately, from the stream at the south end of Cobbossee Pond, on the west, to and a little beyond the Abagadas set stream, on the east, excepting a strip one hundred rods wide near the Hungry Meadow stream. Horatio Smith was a farmer. He served the town as a member of the board of Selectmen. His death was due to consumption, the result of overwork. 39
[Eliza] married (2), September 8, 1835, Captain William Patten, son of Actor and Jane (McLellan) Patten. He was engaged in shipbuilding and other mercantile persuits in Richmond, Me, moved to Philadelphia in 1858, where both died, she February 25, 1863, he August 15, 1871.
