West Barnstable -- Russell F. Syriala, 95, died Jan. 23, 2008. He was the husband of Edith (Luomala) Syriala for 73 years.
Mr. Syriala graduated from Barnstable High School in 1930. He played in the Cape Cod Baseball League until he was in his 40s and coached Barnstable Youth Baseball for many years.
He was a truck driver and commercial shellfisher. He was a longtime member of bowling leagues in West Yarmouth and Hyannis.
He is survived by sons Carl of West Barnstable and Stephen of Pembroke; two grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Gail.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at 1 p.m. in Crocker Park Cemetery in West Barnstable.
