General:
There were several John Smith familes in Plymouth colony, and their genealogies are confusing and jumbled. This is largely because the clerks were not in the habit recording the mothers' and wives' names.
John Smith & Hannah Williams seem to be the favored set of parents.

"Rev. John 1 Smith, the ancestor of the second Smith line on the Vineyard was a resident of Barnstable before 1643; adm. chh. 6 Oct. 1644; freeman 5 June 1651 ; served as Deputy to the General Court; app. to attend meetings of the Quakers and hear their defence and reported in their favor. Withdrew from the communion of the church for conscientious reasons; was "declared noe member for that reason only" but restored later; preached occasionally at Barnstable. In Sept. 1661, he led in organizing a church which a council refused to approve. Accepted call to be pastor at Sandwich and served there 1673-89."Marriage Notes (Susanna Hinckley)
Banks has a 2nd marriage for John, but the children's list seems to be a misplaced duplicate of that from his son Shubael's 2nd marriage. 31
John 1647 and Jeremiah 1654 seem to be wrong connections.

Notes
General:
"Bethiah and husband John resided at Eastham, MA until after the birth of their second child, (1696). John Smith shared in the 7/18/1697 division of his father's estate and the 7/18/1700 division of his mother's estate. He also signed in 1706 as an heir of his father-in-law Stephen Snow. When he inherited half of two farms under his father's will, he removed to Tom's Neck, Monomoit, and "became one of the substantial citizens" of Monomoit."
He was a selectman one year and held other offices in the town. In 1716 he testified against Rev. Mr. Adams in the suit of Adams vs. Hawes. John Smith of Chatham was appointed guardian of his son Deane Smith, aged about 18, on 10/19/1716, "some estate having fallen" to Dean by the "bequest and death of some of his relations." He was a large landowner in the Great Beach area before he died in middle life at the age of 43.
"Administration of the estate of John Smith, late of Chatham, was granted to his son Samuel Smith of Chatham on 25 Feb. 1717/18. Guardians were appointed for John's minor children on 11 July 1722, as follows: Samuel Stuward of Chatham, yeoman, for Mary Smith (ae. ca. 20); Richard Knowles of Chatham for John Smith (ae. ca.19): Thomas Atkins of Chatham, yeoman, for Stephen Smith (ae. ca. 16); William Nickerson of Chatham for Bethiah Smith (ae. ca. 14); Dean Smith of Chatham, yeoman, for David Smith (ae. ca. 11); and Samuel Smith of Chatham, yeoman, for Seth Smith (ae. ca. nine).
Completion of the settlement of the estate on 31 July 1734 disclosed that John Smith was survived by six sons: Samuel (the eldest), Dean, John, Stephen, David and Seth; and three daus.: Mercy, Mary and Bethiah. Dean had since died, leaving four children: Sons Dean, Heman and Asaph, and dau. Meriam. Widow Bethiah was then alive."
The administration of the estate of John Smith, late of Chatham, was granted to his son Samuel Smith of Chatham on 25 Feb1717/18" 47
