"Boston, Saturday, July 9, 1726. Yesterday morning deceased here, after a short illness of a fever, and this evening is decently interred, Mrs. Elizabeth Cotton, only daughter to the late Hon. Col. Nathaniel Saltonstall, Esq., of Haverhill, and sister to the late Hon. Gurdon Saltonstall, Esq., of Connecticut, Governor." She was born 15 Sept. 1668; m. 1. Rev. Mr. John Denison of Ipswich, who d. Sept. 1689, by whom she had the late Col. John Denison, Esq. of the same town; 2. Rev. Mr. Roland Cotton of Sandwich, who died in March, 1721-2. By him she left ten children, (five of whom were sons,) who followed her to the grave. On the demise of her husband, she moved to Boston, where she resided till her death. "She was known to be a person of very superior wit, knowledge and virtue, from her youth up."

Carole Ann Silva, 63
Carole Ann (Salvador) Silva, 63, of Provincetown died Sunday, Sept. 7, at Seashore Point Nursing Home in Provincetown after living for several years with Machado-Joseph disease.
Born in Provincetown, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Philamena V. (Cordeiro) Salvador. Mrs. Silva had been married to her high school sweetheart, Robert P. Silva, since 1963. Their 45th wedding anniversary would have been Sept. 14.
Mrs. Silva was a former CCD teacher and Eucharistic minister at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown.
She loved flowers, especially roses, and for several years she worked part-time as a florist. What she enjoyed most was arranging flowers for weddings. She always enjoyed social events and entertaining people at their home.
In addition to her husband Bob, she is survived by her three children, Amy C. Stuckey and her husband, Gary, of Springfield, Mo., Scott M. Silva of Hingham and Shawn N. Silva and his wife, Amy, of Provincetown; her seven granddaughters and three grandsons; her sister, Veronica Silva, of Provincetown; and her brothers Richard Salvador of Provincetown and Michael Salvador of New Bedford. She was the sister of the late Anthony “Junior” Leonard.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St., Provincetown, on Friday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Sept. 11, with vigil prayers at 6:30 p.m. at the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown. If desired, memorial contributions in honor of Mrs. Silva may be made to Ataxia MJD Research Project Inc., 1425 Alvarado Ave., Burlingame, CA 94010.
