General:
"Simeon, a child of eleven years, was the only survivor [of smallpox among his family], and the only heir of a large landed property. The bodies were buried on the farm, in a row of eleven mounds, where they remain to this day, an object of sad curiosity to the passer by. There were buried in this spot, in all about twenty, connected with the family. He married 1st, Mercy Godfrey; 2d, in 1788, Patience Crowell, and had several children, of whom were Stephen and Simeon; the latter a noted shipmaster, and for many years a prominent railroad man and citizen of Alton, IL, where he died in 1877, aged 82 years." amidon
