Hyannis — Raymond R. Rogers, 85, died April 13, 2008. He was the husband of 57 years of the late Irene M. (Medeiros) Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was born in Marstons Mills.
In 1939 he joined the Army and served as a paratrooper in the 463rd Parachute Field Artillery Battalion. He earned a Bronze Star Medal for his actions in Italy and was honorably discharged in 1945.
He worked most of his life as a carpenter until he went into real estate with his wife.
He was a long-time member of the Holy Ghost Society of Santuit and the St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, where he served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
He is survived by his adopted daughter, Rebecca Rogers of Cotuit; grandchildren Lisa Gilmour of Mashpee, Sherryn Rogers of Hyannis, Robyn Gilmour of Cotuit, Rebekah Gilmour of Cotuit and Robert Gilmour of Houlton, Maine; his sister, Lily Cabeca of New Jersey; niece Dawn Burt of Centerville; five great-grandchildren, Kalela, Tianna, Naveah, Rayella and Robert; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings John Rogers, Donald Rogers, Evelyn Rogers, Alice Rogers, Vivian Berriman, Pauline Marrs, Doris Ramos, Virginia Fournier and Marjorie Weber.
A Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
