"Thou art in the grave dear wife! Shall I see thee no more?
Though I thank God, with weeping, that thy sufferings are o'er.
Thou art in the grave, my mother, we have laid thee there with weeping
And dear and scared is the spot where thy wasted form is sleeping:
That form alone is all, thank God, that to the grave is given,
For we know thy soul, the better part, is safe, yes safe in heaven." 23

Anderson says Samuel was baptized 21 October 1638, citing NEHGR 121:11. Some sources have used 2 October 1638 as the date.
Samuel Baker of Hull was freeman at Hull in 1677. He remained there when his father went to Scituate as pastor, and is mentioned numerous time in the Hull town records. He served as selectman in 1675. Samuel, with brothers John and Nicholas Jr., all of Hull, signed the petition of Martin Stebbins for a tavern licence at Boston.
He married Fear, daughter of Isaac Robinson. On 7 March 1680/1681, Samuel Baker of Hull and his wife Fear, for eleven pounds and five shillings in current silver money, sold to the thirteen owners of the corn mill and saw mill "now built at Straits Pond" one acre and a half and about one rod "on the northerly side of broad creek. It was witnessed by Samuel Prince and Job Chamberlain, acknowledged 26 October 1686 and recorded 10 November 1686. The owners of mills were: Nathan Bosworth Sr., John Loring, Benjamin Loring, Robert Gold (Gould), George Vickers (Vickery), Nathaniel Bosworth Jr., Joseph Bosworth, John Bosworth, all of Hull; John Smith Sr., Matthew Cushing Sr., John Farrow, all of Hingham; and Charles Stockbridge Sr. of Scituate. The name of Thomas Collier Jr. is included in a second listing, making a total of 13.
Samuel received half the house at Hull in his father's will of 1678.
After his father's death, Samuel and his stepmother sold the lands in Hull and moved to Barnstable with their children, where they lived with Fear's father, Isaac Robinson. and removed to Barnstable. On 12 May 1687 Samuel Baker and wife Fear were dismissed from the Hull Church by letter, and were admitted to the church in Barnstable. With them came sons John and Nathaniel, and probably daughters Mary and Grace. Later, about 1710, they removed with the family of Fear's brother Peter Robinson to Connecticut, where Fear died and Samuel remarried.
The children were all probably born at Hull during the period for which no vital records or church records are extant. 40
