Notes
General:
He was a graduate of Harvard college in 1725, a poet, a physician, and a talented man. He studied for the ministry at his father's request, but his trial sermon was judged well prepared but unorthodox, and his father encouraged him to prepare to practice medicine instead, as he was inclined that way. After marrying, he lived at Middletown, CT, in a colony of Cape settlers, and was a physician of eminence. He had a taste for poetry, and several of his efforts gained him some celebrity in that regard.Marriage Notes (Anna Doane)

"Joseph Warren Osborn, proprietor of Oak Knoll near Napa City, one of the finest ranches in the State, was murdered at his residence by one Charles Britton, April 18th, 1863. In his death the county suffered an irreparable loss and the State was bereft of an honored citizen, whose name has been identified with the growth and development of its agricultural resources. His murderer was executed August 7th."
