"Chatham
On Wednesday, as John Nickerson, son of Capt. Seth Nickerson, and Howard Eldridge, son of the late Gideon Eldridge, were fishing in a small boat outside the bar, the boat by some means got too near the breakers and upset, the young men were drowned. The boat and the body of Eldridge came on shore, but Nickerson has not been found."
