Submit Pineo was living in the family of Hezekiah Newcomb in 1736, or three years before her marriage to Hezekiah's son, Silas. Shortly after their first child was born, probably in the spring of 1741, they moved to Falltown, now Leyden, in Franklin Co., Mass. The records of Falltown show that Silas Newcomb was there 24 Sept. 1741, and again 14 Dec. 1744, when certain grants were given him. On 25 Dec. 1742, he bought of his father 10 lots in 1st division of Falltown. Owing to the hostility of the Indians, 1744-45, he was compelled to leave the country, and returned to Lebanon, his future home.Marriage Notes (Submit Pineo)
Mr. Newcomb and his brother Thomas in 1748 bought of their uncle, Capt. Obadiah Newcomb, for £420, seventy-one acres in village lands at Lebanon, adjoining land of their father, Hezekiah. He bought ten acres of £50 in 1754; in 1755, 100 for £100 at the village adjoining his land. He also received nearly 100 acres by his father's will. His tax in 1760 was £3.10s.7d. In Nov. 1764 he sold his son Daniel of Lebanon, for love and affection, lot 10 in 1st division, fifty acres, and lot 146 in 2nd division of Falltown, then Bernardston.
Mr. Newcomb was elected surveyor, 1784; fence-viewer in 1750-51.
He died instantaneously of palsy while sitting under a tree on his farm. The notice of his death upon the town records reads, "Mr Silas Newcomb died Mary 24 1773 suddenly." After his death his widow, Submit, resided with her children, the last few years of her life with her son John. Five of their sons learned the cooper's trade, but did not follow the business long; three were physicians. Mrs. Newcomb was remembered as a woman having a remarkable attachment for her children and grandchildren.
In the division of Silas Newcomb's estate his lands at Falltown went to his eldest son, Daniel, who was born there. The inventory of Mr. Newcomb's estate amounted to £818.10s.3d. The home farm was appraised at £486, and the land in Bernardston (now Leyden) at £45. 26

"He resided in the north part of Eastham, now Truro, Cape Cod., Mass. January 28, 1701-2, "voted to make inquiry concerning a whale which (it is said) Simon Newcomb and Richard Rich cut up at Billingstgate last year." Mr. Newcomb was chosen fence-viewer in 1702. There was laid out to him in 1711, as one of the proprietors of Truro, two pieces of land - four acres for his tenement on Lieutenants Island, two acres in northeasterly corner and two acres northeasterly of Samuel Mayo, Jr.'s lot. "A record of the division of the pond of Moonpoon and the Old Field at Eastern Harbor in the north part of Truro called Moonpoon old field division as they were laid out and lotted and bounded for the proprietors thereof on they fourth day of March 1711-12 the sixth lot fell to Wm. Dyer Simeon Newcomb and Daniel and Benj. Small," twelve acres. He received, by division, other lots of land near the line of Eastham and Truro and near Pamet Point.
His name, as also those of his sons, Simon and Andrew, was signed 12 June 1711 to a petition of the inhabitants of Billingsgate, a village of Eastham, "desiring John Done to go before the governor and seek remedy for difficulties they were subject to." The petition is now on file in Vol. 113, p. 606, of Mass. Archives at Boston.
