Notes
General:
6 Mar 1665-6 John Crow, son of Yelverton, was fined 3s 4d for striking him. In 1675 he was a soldier in King Philip's War, going out on several expeditions. In 1676 his rate for war expenses was £3 8s 10d. 29 Oct 1677 he was one of a jury of inquest into the death of the wife of James Claghorne of Yarmouth. His original hand can be seen in the Scrap Book in the Registry of Deeds at Plymouth, p. 111, dated 4 Mar 1673-4. 28 Jun 1680 he and his heirs and assigns forever received from the town "six acers of planting land on ye south side of ye roade waye allowing 4 pols for the breadth of the said road from the said Tailers field fence this said six acers lying at the north wet and even with ye old field fence extending by the road neere south east 40 pols thene on a set of towards the wods 24 pols; and 224 pols on ye westside; and 40 pols on ye south side". In 1695 he was appointed to take care of the meeting house for a year at a pay of one pound. In 1698 his Yarmouth tax as £4 2s 10d. Most of his life he lived in Yarmouth. By 1711 he had moved to Monomoit. Nevertheless in 1712 he received 23 shares in the division of the common lands of Yarmouth, receiving lot 23 17 1/2 acres. Because he owned land adjoining Tumblen's or Tomlin's Cove, and came to Monomoit about the time the Tomlons moved away, it is supposed that he bought the farm of Nathaniel Tomlon, doubtless located on the east side of Taylor's Pond (formerly Tomlin's Cove). He also had an interest in the common lands at Monomoit, receiving in 1714, as a "priviledged" man, lot 38, northwest of Taylor's Pond. 13 Mar 1715-16 he signed a paper on behalf of Ebenezer Hawes in the suit of the Reverend Hugh Adams v. Hawes. His cattle mark is in Chatham town records 18 May 1716.
