East Falmouth – Sylvia M. (Moniz) Sylvia, 81, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 at Harborside Healthcare in Falmouth after an illness.
She was the wife of George D. Sylvia, for 61 years.
Mr. Sylvia was born and raised in Teaticket and a graduate of Lawrence High School.
She was a telephone operator for New England Telephone and later, a clerk for John's Shoe Store in Falmouth until retirement.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, bingo, reading and watching boats at Falmouth Harbor.
Besides her husband, survivors include two daughters, Sharon Shoner and Beverly M. Williams, both of Teaticket; three brothers, Theophilus Moniz Jr. and Jayme Moniz, both of East Falmouth and Robert Moniz of West Barnstable; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Visitation is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St. (Route 28), Falmouth. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 167 E. Falmouth Hwy. (Route 28), East Falmouth.
Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Memorial donations may be made to Falmouth Rescue Squad, 399 Main St., Falmouth, MA 02540; Harborside Healthcare of Falmouth Activity Fund, 359 Jones Road, Falmouth, MA 02540; or American Cancer Society, 1115 W. Chestnut St., Brockton, MA 02301.
