Virginia "Gina" (Menengas) Joseph, 80, a lifelong resident of Provincetown, died Aug. 21 at Cape Cod Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Francis "Molly" Joseph, who died in April 2006. Mrs. Joseph was the daughter of the late Antonio and Sophia M. (Cabral) Menengas. The greatest joy in her life was spending time with her family, which included her late husband whom she adored, her children, grandchildren, and nine brothers and sisters. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She was an avid walker and would often be seen walking downtown completing her daily chores. She is survived by her four children, Brenda Ferdinand, of Arlington, Mel Joseph and his wife, Prudy, of West Barnstable, Ken Joseph, of Wellfleet, and Sandra Abraham, of Truro; her grandchildren, Andrea and McKenzie Abraham and Amy and Kate Howes-Joseph; two sisters, Isabel Thomas and Caroline Ograbisz, and her brother Lawrence Menengas. She was the sister of the late Mary Hilton, Anthony Menengas, Joseph "Putt" Menengas, Helen Menengas, Constance Senecal and Melvin Menengas. WELLFLEET - Joseph V. "Putt" Menengas, 84, died June 23 at Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center in South Dennis. He was the husband of Margaret (Taylor) Menengas.
Mr. Menengas was born, raised and educated in Provincetown. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in Wellfleet since 1951 and worked for First National Stores in Provincetown, Wellfleet and Orleans for 32 years.
He was known for riding his bike filled with his daily catch of Wellfleet oysters, and for his sense of humor. Mr. Menengas served as a deputy shellfish warden, and night watchman for the harbormaster in Wellfleet.
He was a member of the Grange, American Legion in Wellfleet and Provincetown Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed golfing, the outdoors, oystering and he was a comedian.
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Randall of Anson, Maine, and Renie Dumont of Brewster; his brother, Lawrence Menengas of Brewster; three sisters, Isabelle Thomas of West Boylston, Caroline Ograbisz of Worcester, and Virginia Joseph of Provincetown; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held at First Congregational Church, Wellfleet on June 28. Memorial donations may be made to the Wellfleet Rescue Squad, c/o Fire Department Assoc., Gross Hill Road, Wellfleet, MA 02667 or the Eastham Adult Day Care." 5

BREWSTER \emdash Lawrence F. "Fat" Menengas, 80, of Brewster died Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Mary McCarthy Hospice House in Sandwich.
Mr. Menengas was born and raised in Provincetown, he was the son of the late Antone and Maria (Cabral) Menengas. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Louis A. Young Post 3152, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Brewster resident since 1966 and was a self-employed carpenter and painter.
He is survived by his son David of Nashua, N.H., three grandchildren, his sister Caroline Ograbiscz of Worcester, his friend Nancy Ferreira and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eight siblings, Anthony "Tony" Menengas, Victor "Putt" Menengas, Mary J. Hilton, Isabel E. Thomas, Maria Conceico "Connie" Senecle, Virginia "Gina" Joseph, Helen "Eilana" Menengas and Melvin F. Menengas.
His visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans. His graveside service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. in Provincetown Cemetery, Provincetown.
