ORLEANS, Mass. \emdash An Orleans police officer who admitted driving drunk has been suspended without pay for three months.
Anthony Manfredi's suspension was effective Tuesday after a 4-1 vote of the board of selectmen during a 4 1/2-hour executive session.
Chairwoman Margie Fulcher told the Cape Cod Times that the suspension ensures the 10-year veteran officer gets "the help that he needs."
The 33-year-old Manfredi was off duty in October 2010 when he crashed his pickup truck into a tree off Route 130 in Mashpee. Tests measured his blood alcohol content to be 0.26 percent, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Both Manfredi and his passenger suffered serious injuries.
Manfredi admitted sufficient facts to operating under the influence and negligent operation in September.

Cape Cod Times obit, 16 Aug 2010
ORLEANS \emdash Nancy A. (Manfredi) Benz, 74, of Orleans, died on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at the Orleans Convalescent Center after a long illness. She leaves her beloved husband of 50 years, Edward G. Benz of Brewster.
Born in Atlantic City, N.J., to George Manfredi and Meta (Knab) Manfredi, Nancy grew up in River Edge, N.J. and graduated from Trenton State Teacher's College. She met her husband-to-be in 1957 on a family vacation to Cape Cod and never looked back. Nancy and Ed lived briefly in Eastham before settling in Orleans. Nancy taught at Orleans Elementary School for several years while raising her young family.
A woman of considerable artistic talent with a bright future as a teacher, Nancy chose to put family above all else. An endlessly devoted wife and mother, she considered her family to be her proudest achievement.
Nancy cherished the natural beauty of the Cape and time spent on beach and boating excursions. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, needlepoint, traveling and entertaining her large circle of friends. She was a member of the Orleans Yacht Club and St. Joan of Arc Church, and donated her time and talents to numerous local organizations including the Orleans Recreation Commission and the Orleans Historical Society.
Nancy will be remembered for her engaging personality, big laugh, and kind and generous nature. Blessed with undeniable spirit and uncommon grace, she enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Besides her husband, Nancy is survived by her two children, Alison Benz Czuchra and her husband Bert of Orleans, and Edward G. Benz Jr. and his wife Amy of Orleans; and four grandchildren, Andrew and Ben Czuchra and Haley and Georgia Benz, all of Orleans. She is also survived by her brother, George A. Manfredi of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
A reception will be held at the Orleans Yacht Club on Cove Road in Orleans on Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Services of Cape Cod & the Islands, 712 Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601.
