"Capt. Alonzo H. Kingman, commander of the barque Great Surgeon owned by Hon. D.D. Kelley, died March 22d, on the passage from Iloilo to New York, of heart disease, and was buried at sea March 24th, lat. 35.38 south, lon. 23.50 east. The bark was brought home in charge of the 1st officer, Mr. D.D. Kelley, Jr. Capt. Kingamn was formerly of Orleans, but for many years a resident of Chelsea, and was well known by the nautical community."
