25-year head injury survivor
CHATHAM — Robert Carl Jordan, 48, died Jan. 10 as the result of injuries sustained as a passenger in a van accident on School Street in Hyannis 25 years ago at the age of 23.
He was born at Cape Cod Hospital. He lived in Orleans and Eastham and attended Nauset Regional High School. He was a commercial fisherman, loved animals, and was a clever mechanic.
After the accident his many residences included Cape Cod Hospital and the Whitcomb Pavilion in Hyannis, New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, New Medico Facility in Lynn, (New Medico/The Greenery), Hyannis Skilled Care until its closure and then Middleboro Skilled Care where he lived until his death.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his mother, Donna Mayo Edson of Chatham; his father, O. Robert Jordan of East Dennis; a sister, Lisa D. Jordan; his paternal grandmother, Marguerite Jordan; his step-father, Bruce Edson; step-siblings, Kevin Edson, Kathy Gallian and Karla Machinski; two nephews; one grandnephew; several aunts, uncles and many cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Kroum Jordan, and his maternal grandparents, Fred and Grace Mayo.
Calling hours will be held tonight, Jan. 18, at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, from 4 to 7 p.m.. A memorial service will be held tomorrow, Jan. 19, at Federated Church in East Orleans, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Massachusetts Brain Injury Association, 3119 Cranberry Highway, East Wareham, MA 02538.
