Richard F. Jenney, 68
Opelika, Ala. – Richard F. Jenney, 68, of Opelika, Ala., formerly of Barnstable, died Feb. 12, 2007 after a very long illness.
Born and raised on Cape Cod, he recently retired to Opelika, Ala. A volunteer for many years, he was awarded a special Citation for Exceptional Service with the American Red Cross, Cape Cod Chapter. He was a volunteer coordinator for the Barnstable Citizens Police Acadamy, where he spent most of his time serving his friends and neighbors. He was also a member of the Barnstable County Agricultural Society. Mr. Jenney loved helping people, especially those who were down and out. He was the House Manager at EIC, a rehabilitation facility for alcoholics and addicts.
He is survived by his wife Jenni, a brother Robert Jenney, and a sister Ellen Luebke. His children, Christine Janson, Steve Jenney, Erin Roberts, Pippi Webb, Ray Carlozzi, and Tara Webb. His grandchildren, Allan, Amy, Brittany, Kaley Rose, Courtney, Ariel, Alyssa, Sarah, and Nina, and the many children that Mr. Jenney “adopted” over the years who were proud to call him Dad; Carlene, Denise, Carl, and many more.
A memorial service will be celebrated at the Fredericks Funeral Home in Opelika, AL, on March 3 at 11 a.m. and at The First Baptist Church in Hyannis, on March 10 at 3 p.m.
