"Funeral services were held Saturday at the Nickerson Funeral Home for Alonzo W. Hurbert, 61, of Hillcrest Street, North Billerica, who died on Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Boston, after having been a patient there for 18 days. The Rev. Gilman L. Lane, pastor of the Provincetown Methodist Church officiated and interment was in the Old Section Cemetery, Provincetown.
A native of Provincetown, Mr. Hurlbert was a son of George and Lexis McDonald Hurlbert and was educated through the High School here. He went on to study engineering at the Wentworth Institute in Boston after which he was employed by the Quickway Equipment Company of Indiana.
He was frequent visitor to Provincetown. He served through World War I as a machinists mate 1st class in the Navy, and on discharge from the service in 1919, returned to the company and became district manager for New England Division.
Survivors include his widow, Helene Dann Hurlbert, North Billerica, a sister-in-law, Mrs. William Hurlbert, Wollaston and Provincetown; a niece, Miss Ruth Hurlbert, also Wollaston and Provincetown; two cousins, Mrs. Helen Henderson, Provincetown, and Edward W. Baker, Long Island; an aunt, Mrs. Christine McDonald, Sidney, Nova Scotia, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins."

"Lifelong Resident of this Town Passes Away at 76
"Funeral services were held at Two O'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Centenary Methodist Church with Rev. William H. Moseley officiating, for Mrs. Mary Ellen Newcomb, 76, who died at her home at 7 Cudworth Street Saturday evening of complications following pneumonia.
Mrs. Newcomb, the daughter of George and Hannah Hurlbert, wa born in Provincetown and lived here all her life. She was married to Alexander Newcomb who died seven years ago.
Mrs. Newcomb was the mother of Chief Boatswain's Mate Alvin E. Newcomb, officer in charge of the Point Judith Coast Guard Station, and of Edward Newcomb, captain of the Provincetown fishing dragger James M. Burke. Also surviving are an adopted son, Herbert W. Newcomb of the Cahoon's Hollow Coast Guard Station; a daughter, Mrs. Josephine W. Leonard of Provincetown, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah E. Newcomb of Provincetown and Mrs. Eva Emery of Brockton."
