Gen Reg of 1st Settlers of NE pg 152: HOWLAND, JOHN, one of the first pilgrims, was elected an assistant of Plymouth colony from 1633 to 1635, 3 years, d 23 Feb 1673, ae about 80, being the "last of those in the town of Plymouth who came in the May-Flower 1620." Henry Howland was one of the proprietors of Bridgewater in 1645, and might be a so. pg 344. HOWLAND, JOHN, was upwards of 80 years. The Plymouth Colony Records say of him that he was "an ancient professor of the ways of Christ; one of the first comers, and proved a useful instrument of good, and was the last man that was left than came in the May Flower".
Pioneers of MA 244: Howland, John, came in the Mayflower as servant (or steward) of Mr. John Carver. Signed the compact; took an active part in the early explorations. Settled at Plymouth. Town officer; a partner in the Trading Company of the Colony; Asst. or deputy almost continually. Prominent in the church, so that he "assisted in the imposition of hands" upon Rev.
