"Samuel Higgins was a mariner and was probably lost at sea. Administration on the estate of Samuel Higgins, 3d, late of Eastham, mariner, was granted to Simeon Doane on April 23, 1744. The estate was found to be insolvent. Inventory shows that he possessed house, land, upland and a cow and calf. One third of the real estate was set off to the widow Mary Higgins as her dower on Nov. 25, 1745. Her later history is unknown. She is perhaps the Mary Higgins who on Jan. 27, 1753, was published for marriage with Mr. Jonathan Starr. Both were then residents of Eastham. No children." 55
