David Higgins and his first wife Mercy moved from Eastham to Middle Haddam ca. 1748 and were admitted to the Haddam Neck congregation 29 April 1750. The will of David Higgins of Chatham, dated 23 Feb. 1768 and proved 5 Aug. 1771, mentioned loving wife, five sons Lemuel (executor), Jedidiah, Elkanah, Moses and Solomon, and four daus. Doratha, Ann, Phebe and Abagail. The witnesses made oath 1 July 1771, and an inventory was taken 8 July.
