Kenneth Atkins, 73

Kenneth Weed Atkins, 73, of Truro, died Saturday, April 18, at Seashore Point in Provincetown.

Born in Provincetown, he was the son of the late Samuel K. and Eva F. (Weed) Atkins. Mr. Atkins was a graduate of Provincetown High School.

He worked as a mechanic at Neil's Service Station in Provincetown as well as working for the town for 20 years. He also served as a member of the Provincetown Fire Dept., engine company no. 4.

He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved gardening, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his brothers, Timothy Atkins of South Wellfleet and Leroy Atkins of Orleans; two nieces, Barbara Grandel of North Truro and Leslie Unruh of Seattle, Wash.; a nephew, Philip Atkins of Seattle; and a great-nephew, Anthony Grandel of North Truro, as well as several cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 24, at the Provincetown Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Wellness Center at Seashore Point, 100 Alden St., Provincetown, MA 02657. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gately-McHoul Funeral Home of Provincetown.
