"Sailed from Realejo, West Coast America, July 1 a 2, bark Albert Henry, Hallett, Boston"
BP, 17 may 1848
"Missing Vessel.--Bark Albert Henry, Francis Hallett, master, of and for Boston, sailed from Realejo, W Coast Central America, July 1 or 2, 1847, and has not since been heard from. The A.H. was a superior vessel of 197 tons, built at East Boston about four years since, and had a valuable cargo, which, as well as the vessel, are insured in Boston. Capt. Hallet was a worthy man, about 39 years of age, and has left a wife and four or five children. His officers and crew were mostly enterprising young men, connected with some of the best families in Barnstable County. So long a time has now elapsed that there is a bare possibility that the crew, or some of them may have been rescued by some whaleship or other vessel bound on a distant voyage. The following names were upon her roll of equipage when she left Boston in the latter part of August 1846, for Liverpool, and so far as we can learn remained on board when last heard from:--Francis Hallet, of Yarmouth, master; Joshua Atkins Matthews, of do. first mate, 21; Joshua Underwood, of Harwich, 2d mate, 21; Wm H Howes, of Philadelphia, steward, 18; and the following seamen, Wm Burrell, of Hanover, 21; John Symonds, of Boston, 21; Franklin H Hussey, of do., 22; Wm Schultz, of Philadelphia, 29; Benj A Hamblin, of Yarmouth, 19; Luther Marston, of do., 18; Joseph Bangs, of Boston, 18."
BP, 8 jan 1850
"Commendable Liberality.--About two years ago the bark Albert Henry, Capt. Francis Hallett, left some port in South America, for Boston, and has not since been heard from, a large portion of the officers and crew was from the Cape. A few weeks since, the owners of the A.H., Messrs. Thatcher & Billlings of Boston, paid to the families of the crew the sums they would have been entitled on reaching Boston in the usual time, without deducting the advance wages which the greater portion had received. Such liberality is highly honorable to parties concerned.--[Yarmouth Register."
