Crocheted thousands of doilies, watched the Red Sox faithfully for decades, hoping to see one more World Series win, spun dimes and always had a BIG bag of M&Ms for her great grand daughters, including Susan Chase.Medical:
Worked for Pierpoint glass factory in New Bedford, before moving to Eastham, MA in 1932 w/ daughter Edith and son-in-law Charles H. Acorn.
In Eastham, worked as housekeeper for Mr. & Mrs. Benz, She lived-in and only spent Sundays with Edith Acorn & family until she had a heart attack in early 40s. After that she shared a room w/ Norma. (Mr. Benz was Harry Snow's (hardware store in Orleans) book keeper; she was half-owner w/ her parents of Orleans Dry Goods Store (maiden name was Folds) on Main St. in what was the Watson's block in the 60's. They lived over Snow's store.
Amelia (always known as Mildred because she hated name Amelia, and probably made Mildred out of Millie) also worked briefly in the 30s in the No. Eastham post office, which was in a small cottage on Nauset Road near RR tracks.
Norma remembers her buying lots of candy bars which she shared with her grand children, Norma and Charles. She bought bikes for them and provided things Norma's parents couldn't afford. Millie rode a "wheel" and wanted them to do so, too (even though her daughter Edith never did).
