Funeral servicee were held Sunday at the Church of St. Mary of the Harbor for Mrs. Mary F. Whelden who died Friday night in Brooklyn, New York at the age of 70 following an attack of brochitis. The Rev. DeWolf Perry officiated and interment was in the Provincetown Cemetery.
Mrs. Whelden was well known in Provincetown and for the past sixteen years spent her summers here. Lately she lived at 524 Commercial Street.
Born in Haverhill, Mrs. Whelden was the widow of George Whelden who died March 17, 1939 after a married life of 46 years.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Vernon Comstock of New York, Mrs. Malcolm McNeill of Brooklyn, Mrs. Grace Rutherford of New York and Mrs. Arthur Riordan with whom she made her home in Brooklyn. The daughters and a granddaughter, Miss Ann Rutherford, accompanied the remains here for the funeral.
Mrs. Whelden was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
