Bonnie Jean (Eldredge) Robbins, 75
South Dartmouth - Bonnie Jean (Eldredge) Robbins, 75, of South Dartmouth, passed away July 3, 2010, after a long battle with cancer and the resulting poor health.
She was born in Hyannis, the daughter of the late Charles M. and Genieve (Fuller) Eldredge of Hyannis. She lived most of her life on Cape Cod, three years in Plattsburgh, NY, eight years in Traverse City, MI. and 23 years in Dartmouth.
She had many rewarding "careers" as she moved about the country with her husband. As a teenager she worked in the Barnstable selectmen's office. She did hospital work at the Cape Cod Hospital when living in Osterville and Hyannis, and also in hospitals in Plattsburgh and Traverse City. She worked as a hospice volunteer in Michigan, and here worked as a female liaison officer for Bristol County under then Sheriff David Nelson.
She had a passion for politics, working as office manager for the Republican Party in Traverse City, but her biggest political thrill was being in attendance at the inauguration of President Ronald Reagan in January 1981.
She was the wife for 58 years of Orren B. Robbins. Survivors include son Orren Jr. and his wife Frankie of Simpsonville, SC; son David of Cape Cod and Key West, FL, and son Stephen of Norfolk. She was the mother, too, of Kenneth Michael, who died in 1960. She is also survived by her sister Mary Maki and her husband Frederick of Hyannisport, and was sister of the late Mervyn "Murf" Eldredge. She was the grandmother of Sarah J. Robbins, Zachary Robbins, Bethanie Robbins, Amanda Robbins, Sarah White and Josh White, and has several nieces and nephews.
Her remains were interred beside her son Kenneth Michael at the Hillside Cemetery in Osterville.
