Melancholy accident.--We are informed by a gentleman of Wellfleet, that a small new schooner of about 25 tons burthen, was capsized by a squall in Portsmouth harbor a short ime since and Capt. Asa Haws, Mr. Benjamin Hawes, of Wellfleet, and another seaman, a native to this State, were drowned.--The vessel was just off the stocks at Essex, bound for Wellfleet, and was beating into Portsmouth for a harbor.--The men hung to the wreck for some time, but before assistance could be rendered from the shore they sunk, with the vessel.--Captain H. was in possession of about $900 which had been entrusted to him by citizens of Wellfleet for business purposes, which, together with every thing on board, were lost." 7
