"Thomas Deaxe (Jonas1) settled in the East Parish of Barnstable as
early as 1728. He was admitted to the East Church, May 23, 1731. In 1737, his house stood in that part of Barnstable called "Old Town." He removed to Scarborough, Maine, between 1737 and 1740 ; and afterwards, it is said, to New Meadows, now Bath, Maine, where he died. By his wife Lydia, he had:\emdash
i. Lydia, b. in Barnstable, July 7, 1728; bap. July 14; m. 1st, at B., Oct. 12, 1749, Joseph Bearse, b. Oct. 30, 1708, son of Benjamin and Sarah (Cobb) Bearse. He died in 1751, leaving a son Joseph. MARSTONS MILLS - Cheryl Nancy Deane, 49, was found deceased in her home on Oct. 30.
Ms. Deane was the daughter of the late Charles N. Deane and the late Elizabeth L. Dean. She was raised in Eastham and attended Eastham Elementary and Nauset Regional High School, graduating in 1974. She attended Cape Cod Community College and Westfield State College from which she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1978.
Ms. Deane was an avid piano player, ballet dancer, gymnast, Cape Fire Girl, and a longtime member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.
After college she worked in various retail and service industry positions in the Hyannis area, including Jordan Marsh, Zales and Filenes, where she was employed at the time of her death.
Ms. Deane was a life-long member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, raised in First Parish Brewster and currently a member of the Unitarian Church of Barnstable, where she was active in the choir. She was a former member of the Chatham Chorale.
She is survived by her sister, Judith Deane Settle of Lovettsville, Va.; and several cousins.
